Fertility Acupuncture After Ovulation

This article is the third in a series that has discussed the uses of Acupuncture at different times during the cycle.  We have covered Acupuncture at period time, to prepare for ovulation and now Fertility Acupuncture after ovulation.

At ovulation an egg (correctly called an oocyte) is released from the ovary into the Fallopian tube where hopefully it will be fertilized by waiting sperm.  Fertilization takes place about 12-24 hours after ovulation.  Then over the next days a fertilized and developing egg will make its way through the Fallopian tube to eventually arrive in the uterus about 5 days after ovulation.  In the uterus the implantation process of the egg will start to take place lasting several days.  If successful implantation will only be complete just before when a period would usually arrive.  If unsuccessful the period will arrive.

As you can see from ovulation some extremely important events are happening in the body.  If you are trying to conceive again this phase is an important time to have Acupuncture treatment.  You might think that when having Fertility Acupuncture your Acupuncturist waits until a pregnancy is confirmed before starting to provide Pregnancy Acupuncture support.  This is generally not correct, if your Acupuncturist knows you are trying to conceive Pregnancy Acupuncture support starts from ovulation.  This way using the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine your Acupuncturist aims to support your bodies functioning with a goal of promoting conception.
